Side by Side Festival

Looking for something to do for the family, for children and young people this summer in Rochdale?

We’d love to invite you and to help spread the word about our exciting programme for children and young people at the Side-by-Side Festival - a new community-led celebration supported by Touchstones and Creative Lead, Harry Meadley.

Running across Rochdale Town Hall and our pop-up venue Temporary Touchstones, we’ve got a packed summer schedule of creative, fun, and thoughtful activities. All bookable events are Pay What You Can, with free tickets available for those who need them. Proceeds support future community-led work with Touchstones.

 

Highlights include:

• Baby Yoga (21 Aug, 11am): A storytelling yoga session for bonding with your baby, led by Gilly Balfour at Rochdale Town Hall, The Bright Hall.
• The Wizard and the Mechanic (21 Aug, 12.15pm & 3.30pm): A magical show from Adventure Arts with a mask-making workshop at Temporary Touchstones.
• Spaces for Nature (22 Aug, 10.30am & 11.15am): Help reimagine Touchstones’ new gardens using LEGO® bricks at Temporary Touchstones.
• Pizza Party (22 Aug, 1.30–3pm): Free pizza and picnic vibes designed by local youth group Set A at Temporary Touchstones.
• Rochdale’s Youth Takeover! (22 Aug, 2–5pm): Dance, art, games, and chill spaces curated by young people from Rochdale Youth Service at Temporary Touchstones.

Exhibitions include:

• Over to you…, Youth Audio Trail, and Schools Linking - featuring creative work by local students and youth groups.
