Roots Hair Academy - Alternative Provision

We teach City & Guilds Hairdressing Qualifications to KS4 children and Hairdressing Skills to KS3 Children

Find Your Roots Hair Academy is a new Alternative Provision, offering City & Guilds Hairdressing Qualifications, designed for KS4 learners, now open in Heywood Town Centre.

Our programme provides students with the chance to gain valuable vocational skills in a professional salon environment, whilst developing confidence, creativity, and employability.

We have enrolled our first students for the new academic year.

We offer City & Guilds accredited courses in Hairdressing from Entry Level to Level 3.

Key Stage 3: we also offer a pathway for KS3 students which provides hairdressing skills, employability skills and life skills. On this pathway students can gain these skills with a view to starting a City & Guilds course when they reach 14. We provide our own certificates for the KS3 pathway.

Our Provision Offers:

  • Smaller classes for bigger impact - we have a maximum of 6 students per day, with 3 experienced staff.  The high ratio of staff to students ensures individual attention, mentoring, and meaningful relationships.
  • Nurturing and personalised support - a small, calm, safe and supportive environment designed for students with SEND, SEMH and behavioural needs.  Strong pastoral care with a focus on wellbeing and confidence building.
  • Rewards System - this is linked to student behaviour, attendance and punctuality, both at our centre and at school.  Students can spend reward points on equipment to build up a hairdressing tool kit and hair treatments in our salon.
