PROJECT OVERVIEW: CREATIVE FUTURES
Who the project is for?
This project will work with 75 young people aged 13–18 from Rochdale and Oldham.
We are particularly aiming to reach young people who may:
● Lack confidence or self-belief
● Feel disengaged from education or unsure about next steps
● Have limited access to creative opportunities, networks, or role models
● Benefit from additional support with life skills, wellbeing, and aspiration
What the project is about?
Creative Futures is a 12-month creative and wellbeing programme that uses digital storytelling, visual production, and documentary-style content to help young people build skills, confidence, and pathways into further education, training, or creative careers. No previous experience required.
Alongside creative delivery, the project creates space for:
● personal development
● confidence building
● wellbeing and reflection
● positive peer connection
The programme will end with a celebration and public showcase, bringing together young people, families, schools, youth workers, and community partners to share work and spark wider conversations about inclusion and opportunity.
How delivery will work.
Weekly delivery
● Sessions run every Wednesday, 10am–3pm, at Skills 4 All, Carnegie OLD Castleton Library, 881 Manchester Road, Castleton, OL11 2ST.
The number 17 bus stops directly outside our building. We are a 4 minute walk from Castleton Train Station.
● The programme includes creative and mentoring sessions.
● Led by an experienced creative with industry experience including teaching.
● First cohort starts 25th February 2026.
6-weekly delivery structure The project is delivered in 6-week blocks, allowing young people to build skills gradually and see progress over time.
Each block will typically include:
● Creative skill development (digital storytelling, filming, photography, editing, visual production)
● Employability and progression focus (portfolio building, confidence, teamwork, communication, aspiration)
● Wellbeing and softer skills (self-reflection, resilience, confidence, goal setting)
● Exposure to creative industries (guest speakers, workplace visits, and industry-specific events)
This structure helps young people stay engaged while building towards tangible outcomes.
