We are excited to share a national opportunity from the British DanceSport Association (BDSA), the governing body for Ballroom and Latin American Dance in the UK, and we want the REACH platform to help us reach young people across the Rochdale Borough.
The BDSA has launched its first ever Youth Advisory Group, and applications are now open.
This inspiring initiative brings together young people aged 16–24 to work directly with us, ensuring that the voices of young dancers and those involved in dance at a local level help shape the future of dance sport across the country.
Young people are the lifeblood of dance in our communities as dancers, teachers, volunteers, organisers and future leaders. This Youth Advisory Group gives them a safe, structured and meaningful platform to share their lived experience, influence real decisions and help build a fairer, more inclusive and more supportive environment for all.
The Youth Advisory Group is not tokenistic. Safeguarding, mentoring, training and ongoing support are central to the programme, ensuring that young people are listened to, valued and protected throughout their involvement.
Youth Advisors will have the opportunity to:• Influence real decisions within a national governing body
• Develop leadership, communication and advocacy skills
• Represent their communities at a national level
• Help shape positive change for the next generation of dancers
The role is voluntary, with expenses covered, and is designed to fit around education, employment and caring responsibilities.
