Volunteer with Rochdale Pioneer Museum

This summer, the Rochdale Pioneers Museum is launching a short summer project aimed at young people aged 16-21. It is a great opportunity for anyone that age who might be interested in a career in the arts or heritage - they'll learn about different career options in the sector, visit our museum store, and develop their creative skills by putting together a small display.

Pioneering Voices - summer project for young people

Rochdale Pioneers Museum are delviering a 4 part programme over the summer for young adults interested in careers in arts and heritage and currently accepting applications for our summer programme aimed at young people aged 16-21.

The project will take place on Tuesdays in August.

  • Session 1 – Tuesday 4 August (10am-2pm)
  • Session 2 – Tuesday 11 August (10am-2pm)
  • Session 3 – Tuesday 18 August (10am-2pm)
  • Session 4 – Tuesday 25 August (10am-2pm)

You’ll learn about museum careers, develop skills in telling stories about the past, meet professionals from the museum and arts industry and develop your own creative output in response to our collections.

Over 4 sessions, you’ll:

  • Learn more about our museum collection and visit our collection store, which is not open to the public
  • Learn more about Rochdale’s history and help us share that story with a wider audience
  • Use your expertise and experience as a young person to help shape our museum’s displays
  • Produce your own creative response to our collections, which will be displayed in the Rochdale Pioneers Museum
  • Help to co-design and advertise our display to make it interesting to the public

If you want to learn about what a career in the arts and heritage industry would look like, and you live or study in Rochdale, this is the perfect project for you.
